This was my first time recording. I learned a lot having participated in this hymn CD project with CCMA. The first song I recorded was "Turn Your Eyes upon Jesus". At first, I was not sure I could sing this song. For some reason, I could not sing it with the proper emotions, maybe because I was having a hard time connecting to the lyrics in the song. Then 9/11 occurred. During that emotionally draining week, God revealed to me the power and comfort in the lyrics of this favorite hymn. God reminded me that when we "turn our eyes upon Jesus...the things on earth will grow strangely dim."

Shortly afterwards, I was given the chance once again to record a second hymn, "To God be the Glory." The fast paced style of this song was refreshing and fun to sing. But I could not have done it without God's amazing power. I had stayed up till dawn the night before my recording session and when I finally woke up at noon, my voice became very coarse. I became really nervous because I was scheduled to record at 1pm, but God helped me through. Miraculously, my voice opened when I started recording.

Praise God for giving me this opportunity to serve Him through singing. Truly and surely, "to God be the Glory!!"

At times, I was too concerned about my vocal quality during recording, and got frustrated. But I was reminded that it's my genuine heart with true worship that matter to Him. Once I refocused on Him, I was empowered by Him and able to deliver the song again.

It is an awesome experience to praise and worship the Lord together through the group recording sessions as well, to serve Him in one accord for one purpose in the unity of Christ. (Phil 2:2)

I'm so grateful to be part of this project and to be used by Him. My vocal delivery might not be the best, but I pray that God could use our voices in His Glory.

Being alone in the recording room makes me nervous. Many times I'll hear the producer says "Don't worry about the recording, just enjoy and worship the Lord!" As a green horn to recording, there're just so many things to worry about: the notes, the rhythm, and the emotions... Yet it is a wonderful serving experience for me.

With the help of brand new arrangements and lyrics, we hope you will enjoy these contemporary praise songs. That's what I'll say "Don't worry about being in tune, just sing along with the music and worship with us!"

"Sing to the Lord, praise his name, proclaim his salvation day after day. Declare his glory among the nations, his marvelous deed among all peoples." Psalms 96:2-3

"Amazing Grace! How sweet the sound!" It is the most touching and most popular hymns of all times. It is also my personal favorite. When I was asked to sing the new translated Cantonese version of "Amazing Grace", I was elated. What a blessing and privilege!

I grew up in a traditional church and singing hymns was a big part of my worship experience. As many churches have crossed over or are working to cross over to more contemporary worship style, we are singing less and less hymns. I am a worship leader in a church that embraces contemporary worship; God also called me to start a ministry in contemporary worship; I always stick in a hymn here and there when I lead worship. One day I was chatting with a member in my church; he expressed his concern that his daughters and a whole new generation may grow up knowing very few hymns. And I share his sentiments.

Even it is appropriate to find culturally relevant ways to express our love to God in worship, there is definitely still a place for hymns which have brought so many inspirations to so many people through generations.

I really appreciate CCMA for taking on this project. It is no easy task. With the richness of lyrics and the depth of content, it is extremely difficult to translate and capture all the essence without losing the original meaning into Cantonese, which is a very tonal dialect that poses tremendous challenges to the translators. Thanks for their hard work.

It's my prayer that this project will help to rekindle the love and appreciation for hymns among the younger generation. After all, worship is not about musical styles, it's all about God and His "Amazing Grace".

I personally like upbeat song very much because it gives me a sense of joy and optimism. Certainly, the song "Be Thou My Vision" does imply that the real joy is come from God. My favorite verse in this song is "by day and night, thy presence is my light, O Lord!" It reminds me that eventhough there are uncertainties in our lives, God is always there to guide us. Therefore we can face the future with confidence.
